Another Awesome Night’s Sleep in my Hammock Through the Rain

Got another great night’s rest in my hammock and slept through the constant rain. Woke up to a lapse in rain and got packed and back on the trail. My number one party and concern was again my plantar fasciitis. I maintained a very very slow pace, stretching routinely and whenever I felt pain. Once again I was extremely happy to find that I was able to manage the pain while putting in miles!

Approaching Mt. Laguna in the Rain

It was great to see the landscape change as I approached Mount Laguna. The first pine trees and forest landscapes slowly appeared through the mist and rain that continued throughout the day.

Mt. Laguna At Last!

The rain continued as I rolled into Mt. Laguna and I got my first look at a hiker box at Mt. Laguna Sports and Supply. I also noticed that Mt. Laguna Sports and Supply had a pretty awesome assortment of cottage industry backpacking gear, lots of great stuff.

It was great to see some familiar faces as well as I bumped into Porcupine, Kelly, Rob, Skippy and others. As it was Friday and the few existing Mt. Laguna hotel options were already filled, it was obvious that I would need to get to Julian for a hotel and some rest. Fortunately Trail Angel Rob was going that way and gave Skippy and I a ride which was much better than having to hitchhike in the rain and cold after long day. Once we arrived in Julian we booked for the last available rooms at a small bed and breakfast. Time for some rest!
