Back on the Trail and it’s Hot!

After an amazing experience with pizza and beer, today was another hot day in the Anza Borrego desert. I kept my mileage down again due to my right foot issue, with lots of breaks and stretching ….. Then something amazing happened.

Could a New Insole Fix My Right Arch Foot Pain?

I’ve been using two different insoles to see if they make a difference in my right foot arch pain. I started off with the Green Superfeet, which are a medium ish support insole, then briefly went to a more supportive Sole insole. The Sole immediately caused more pain, so I stuck with the Green Superfeet. Everything I’ve read regarding treatment of what I suspected to be Plantar Fasciitis indicated that I needed to go to a stiffer shoe and insole, so I’ve been ignoring the softer, less supportive Montrail Enduro-Sole insoles that I have. Then I figured I would give them a shot because I had nothing to lose and almost immediately, my foot began to feel better! What?????? Montrail Enduro-Sole insoles for the win!

I’m not sure if this is a fluke or not, but I currently have a very rigid shoe in the Salomon XA Pro 3D and thought I also needed a stiffer, more supportive insole, but maybe that was not the case!

I’m looking forward to the coming days to see if this a true fix for the foot issue that has been plaguing me since day one! So excited about this as I’ve considered the fact that this foot issue may end my thru hike, many, many times.

Water Caches For The Win!

You can never depend on water caches, but it’s such a nice thing when you happen to come across on! This is especially true when some of the smaller water sources we were coming upon have become nothing more than mud holes. Yay for trail angels and water caches!
