Cold, rough and freezing rain day. Quilt went into bivy under tarp bone dry and wetted out within hours. Finally got out of bivy when I realized what had happened around midnight and had a freezing night with a soaking wet puffy and quilt. Left for Winthrop to get new tent, shell and gloves. Got sick in Winthrop so stayed at hostel for a few days to recover.
Did you ditch the tent/sleeping bag BC of the weather in Washington? would think that the bivy would’ve gotten wet easy
My quilt wetted out in two hours on first night of rain and my HMG tarp was too minimal for the weather in Washington, plus had a huge footprint, which isn’t optimal … so ditched tarp and bought tent, best move ever. :)
